I would like to take this opportunity to explain La Conexions package service. Our package service is set-up to transport consumer goods from the USA to San Miguel. These rates do not apply to commercial shipments (multiple items for resale in Mexico). All merchandise must be declared at the border. The border guards are interested in the actual value of the merchandise; they don’t care if the merchandise is a gift, free sample, produced by you or a great deal bought off of Ebay. We do not act as the police for the border and don’t have to validate your invoice, but we will not falsify the invoice either. The packages must arrive with a value or we apply an estimated value.

La Conexion handling charges are 17% of the value (or estimated value) of the merchandise, with a $2.00 dollar minimum. Plus a charge for shipping, which is $1.00 dollar minimum (0-1 lbs) or $1.00 per lb (5 lbs+). When you are filling out any purchase (through the internet or from a brick-and-mortar type store), we suggest that you simply add the international border crossing fee of 17% of the value, plus the transportation charge from N. Laredo to San Miguel de Allende. This way you can determine the true cost of what you are buying and not be surprised when you pick-up your package in San Miguel de Allende,

Book Rate is $1.00 dollar per lb (1 lb minimum).

We charge $35.00 USD per 20" x 20" x 20" box containing used items, plus the transportation charge ($1.00 per lb), no exceptions.

If you feel our charges are too high, you, your family and friends can ship directly into Mexico through UPS, FedEx or any other courier that offers this service. To get a quote you can go online to http://www.ups.com/ or http://www.fedex.com/ and then enter your data - and they will quote you a price immediately.

Please instruct your families that they can send packages directly to you at Aldama #3 - Zona Centro, San Miguel de Allende, GTO. 37700 Mexico. They must fill out the proper paperwork with the courier. There will NOT be an additional charge to you when you receive the packages. We are here from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday.

We want you to fully understand the cost of our package services. Please figure out the total cost of your merchandise before you make the purchase, and have it shipped to our address. Even though we live in Mexico, the price of our service is not negotiable. We have a great deal of respect for you - our client - and ask that you give us the same consideration.

E-mail La Conexión for your private mailbox #(PMB#), then complete the following forms at your local post office:

If your visit is seasonal, you will need to notify the post office of your address change with the official Change of Address Form. It usually takes 11 days to receive your first batch of mail. We suggest you start forwarding your mail 11 days before you leave and stop the forwarding 11 days before your return. This way there is no lapse in your mail service.

If you are moving to San Miguel permanently you will need to fill out the Change of Address Form (PS Form 3575) and mail the Address Change Notification Cards (PS Form 3576) to people and businesses who send you mail. We have the address change notification cards available in our office in San Miguel and will be glad to help you with this when you arrive, or you can go to your local Post Office and acquire and send them before your departure. Note: the Change of Address Form should be filled out and taken to your local Post Office before you leave--preferably 11 days before your departure.

Changing mail services
To avoid forwarding problems, La Conexion would be glad to help you fill out the Address Change Notification Cards (PS Form 3576). We'll need to mail them to people and businesses (including magazines, of course) who send you mail. We can preprint these cards and send them out for you free of charge. Our most important job is making life easier for you--the most important person at our business.
